Choose Wisely; East or West

Choose Wisely; East or West

Whether you're planning a move to Disney World in Florida, or just dreaming of it, one of the most important decisions you can make, that you may not even think about, is which side of Disney to move to. disneymove

Years back, when I was researching our move to the Orlando area this was the biggest and hardest choice that I had to make, and I made the right one.

I am hoping with my help you can make the right one for you too!

Here are two questions to answer, that may help you decide which is best for you.

1. Will you be working East or West of Walt Disney World?

Living on the West side would be beneficial if you'll be working on the West side of Disney; Celebration, Kissimmee, Davenport, Clermont, or in Walt Disney World itself.

If you'll be working at Universal Studios Orlando, Orlando or the surrounding areas then the East side would be best.

2. How often will you be going to Disneyworld?  When researching for my own move I was told many times about areas outside Orlando, just a short drive away.

In the past years I have found from personal experience that congestion (year 'round), starts right before the Downtown Disney exit if you're traveling East on I-4, and if you're traveling West on I-4 it starts around the International Drive exits.

If you're thinking about living in an area outside of Orlando, to the East, like Lake Mary for example, your drive could get quite long due to congestion all year long.

We chose to live on the West side of WDW.  We work at home and go to Disney many times per week.  We only pass Disney and head East when we're going to the malls, Universal Orlando, Whole Foods, and the outlet malls, or when we're headed to the East Coast.  We have everything we need here on the West side, and it's quick, easy, quiet, safe, and convenient!

If we worked in Orlando, or near Orlando, most likely we wouldn't live on the West side, because going through the congestion near Downtown Disney on I-4 daily would not be something that we'd want to do.
